Satellite Television

Satellite reception problems are unusual, but when they occur they can be caused by a number of things:

  • Transmission difficulties
  • Receiver or software problems
  • Damaged or loose connecting cable
  • Misalignment of the dish
  • Overhanging trees etc obstructing the dish
  • Heavy rain in the vicinity
  • Snow in the dish
  • High altitude clouds of ice crystals

Most of these problems will cause loss of some (or all) channels, frozen pictures, and pixellation or blocking on the picture, sometimes with sound break-up.

See our related question below, which suggest some actions to improve your reception. If these actions don’t improve your reception, you should seek the advice of your satellite retailer or installer.
